Mission

The Reach Foundation UK was established in the United Kingdom in 2017 following an inspiring year of working closely with a community in Chikwawa, Malawi. We aim to transform the lives of men, women and children around the world, through providing sustainable economic opportunities and improved health, educational and nutritional programmes. 100% of the charity’s donations go directly to the individual programmes and we strive to maintain a close personal relationship with both our supporters and each of the communities we work with in Malawi.

Goals

What have we done and where are we going? Since registering as a charity in 2016, The Reach Foundation have funded meals for 100 children twice a day whilst attending a preschool where 4 teachers and 4 cooks are paid to care for these children by the foundation. We have financially supported the purchase of a Maize mill which has transformed the community in which it is based. Whilst providing an income for our partners working closely with our feeding, health and education programmes, it is used by the vulnerable and needy members of the community who are truly benefiting from the ability to Mill their own Maize without charge meaning more money for food and the hope of a reduction in malnutrition in the area. We have funded the opening of a government approved health clinic based on the same site as the preschool. The clinic provides basic medication and health assessment tools for the community. Each year we send extra money at Christmas so that the children, widows, school workers and children with Albinism living in community can truly celebrate Christmas as a family.

Our hope for the future is that the work of the The Reach Foundation continues to grow and is able to fully support the increase in outreach work through the mobilisation of a sustainable mobile outreach clinic. The aim is that all patients will receive medical advice/treatment in their own community in addition to receiving a Maize meal on the day they attend. We want to see an increase in water accessibility for all families living in the area and build on the number of children attending our feeding and education programmes. The Reach Foundation will continue to maintain close relationships with partners in the UK donating much needed medical supplies, toys and clothes. We will strive to continue sourcing as much locally as possible in an effort maintain our commitment to the practice of sustainability within our work.
